CHARRO! (1969) 2291

Original National General Pictures One Sheet Poster (27×41). Originally folded. Good condition.

Additional DescriptionMore Details
Original National General Pictures One Sheet Poster (27x41) for the Charles Marquis Warren western, CHARRO! (1969)—starring Elvis Presley, Ina Balin, Victor French, and Barbara Werle. This film was intended to be a totally different kind of role for Elvis. Except for singing the title song over the opening credits, Elvis does not sing any other songs in the film. Elvis plays a gunfighter who decides to go straight but his old gang pulls him back in to steal a cannon, which is a priceless gem from the Mexican Revolution. Besides Elvis playing a serious dramatic role, the film also has a good supporting cast, a decent script, beautiful cinematography, and a great musical score. Originally folded, this original one sheet poster is in good condition only. Has a hole in the upper right; appropriate for linen backing. Ask us about linen backing and restoration.

CHECK AND DOUBLE CHECK (1930) 7804

Original RKO Jumbo Lobby Card (14×17). Very Fine.

Additional DescriptionMore Details
This is an original RKO Jumbo Lobby Card (14x17) for the comedy based the very popular “Amos ‘n Andy” radio program, CHECK AND DOUBLE CHECK (1930)—starring Freeman F. Gosden (Amos), Charles J. Correll (Andy), and Russ Powell (Kingfish). The movie featured the very talented Duke Ellington and the Cotton Club Orchestra; indeed, the film was credited with introducing Ellington to white audiences. Most people did not realize that the characters of “Amos ‘n Andy” were all white comedians imitating the voices of black men on the radio, but the contrivance was undone when the main characters appeared in “black-face” in the movie. This original jumbo lobby card is in very fine plus condition.

Goitein soft-core sex comedy, CHEERLEADERS BEACH PARTY (1978)—starring Stephanie Hastings, Linda Jenson, Mary Lou Loredan, and Denise Upson. CHINATOWN NIGHTS (1929) 7949

Original Paramount Pictures Style B One Sheet Poster (27×41). Linen-backed. Very Fine.

Additional DescriptionMore Details
This is an original Paramount Pictures one sheet poster (27x41) for the William Wellman crime drama, CHINATOWN NIGHTS (1929)—starring Wallace Berry, Florence Vidor, and Warner Oland about the “Tong Wars” in San Francisco in the 1920s. This film began as a silent picture, but production stopped to adapt it to sound. Dialogue was written in four days and filming resumed. This major change from the silent era to “talkies” ended many acting careers, including Vidor who abruptly left filmmaking after shooting her scenes in this film. She did not return to dub in her voice; rather, Nella Walker dubbed Vidor’s lines. This very rare style B one sheet poster is in very fine condition with modest paper repair and touch-up at fold lines. Atmospheric and beautiful, this poster is representative of the great "look" of Paramount posters from this era. Notice the absence of any border. This is characteristic of Paramount posters from several years during this period.

CHRISTINE (1983) 1206

Original Columbia Pictures Advance One Sheet Poster (27×41).  Fine plus condition.

Additional DescriptionMore Details
Original Columbia Pictures Advance One Sheet Poster (27x41) for the John Carpenter horror thriller, CHRISTINE (1983)—starring Keith Gordon, John Stockwell, Alexander Paul, and Harry Dean Stanton. The star of the film is a car. He then devotes himself to restoring the car to mint condition. But slowly Arnie begins to change, becoming disconnected from his friends and reality in general. This classic horror movie about a “killer car” with a deadly past certainly delivers on the good scares. CHRISTINE is a wonderful, affectionately regarded film from John Carpenter.
