OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Original Embassy Home Entertainment Video Release Poster (23×36) for the Ridley Scott science fiction masterpiece, BLADE RUNNER (1982) starring Harrison Ford, Rutger Hauer, Sean Young, and Edward James Olmos. Ford, in one of his best screen performances, plays a former Blade Runner, a cop who specializes in terminating replicants, who are human clones developed to serve in the colonies outside earth. Truly one of the few true science fiction “art” films, Director Scott creates a future unlike any we’ve ever seen before. The film requires the audience to seriously think about the impact of technology on human society. These themes play out in a fairly basic detective story, but the ultimate power of the film comes from its stunning visual imagery of a dark futuristic cityscape. Indeed, the outstanding visual quality of the film garnered it Academy Award nominations for Best Art Direction and Best Visual Effects. This original Video Release Poster with artwork by John Alvin is folded and in very fine condition.

ORCHESTRA REHEARSAL (1978) 7576

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Original Gaumont/New Yorker Films One Sheet Poster (27×41) for the Federico Fellini pseudo-documentary, ORCHESTRA REHEARSAL (1978) starring Balduin Baas, Clara Colosimo, Elizabeth Labi, and Ronaldo Bonacchi. One of the finest make-believe documentaries ever made, this film tells the story of the members of an orchestra as they assemble for rehearsal in a medieval Roman chapel. But the film moves from realism to pure hyperbole when it degenerates into major pandemonium by the end of the film. The music score by Nino Rota is excellent as always; indeed, this score was perhaps more important than his earlier Fellini scores. Alas, this will be the last score from Rota as he would die the following year. This original one sheet poster with artwork by Bonhomme is folded and in very fine condition.

CALCUTTA (1947) 2528

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Original Paramount Pictures Scene Lobby Card (11×14) for the John Farrow film noir, CALCUTTA (1947) starring Alan Ladd, Gail Russell, William Bendix, and June Duprez. Ladd and Bendix play cargo pilots working the route from India to China and trying to solve the murder of a fellow pilot. The film turned out to be Ladd’s most successful film of the 1940s, grossing more that even THE BLUE DALHIA (1946). This original scene lobby card is in very fine plus condition.

FELLINI’S ROMA (1972) 7575

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Original United Artists One Sheet Poster (27×41) for the Federico Fellini docu-drama fantasy, FELLINI’S ROMA (1972) starring Peter Gonzales, Fiona Florence, Britta Barnes, and Pia De Doses. Adopting a documentary style at times and historical reenactment at others, this surreal and impressionistic portrait of Rome blends autobiographical memories of the director with scenes of present-day Rome. There are a host of truly memorable scenes: the ecclesiastical fashion show, the deli-style brothel, the family style meal, and the discovery and destruction of Roman ruins during construction of the subway system. This original one sheet poster is folded and in fine plus condition—with slight wear, some toning, and minor fold separations.

BLOSSOMS IN THE DUST (1941) 8083

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Original MGM Insert Poster (14×36) for the Mervyn LeRoy biography, BLOSSOMS IN THE DUST (1941) starring Greer Garson, Walter Pidgeon, Felix Bressart, and Marsha Hunt. Garson plays Edna Gladney, a remarkable woman who takes pity on how the law treats children who are without parents. She opens a home for orphans and begins to place them in good homes. Eventually she leads a fight in the Texas Legislature to remove the stigma of illegitimacy from birth records. Garson delivers a fantastic performance as the compassionate and strong Gladney; indeed, she received an Academy Awards nomination for Best Actress for this role (one of her seven nominations and one win). The film also received nominations for Best Picture and Best Cinematography, and the film won the Oscar for Best Art Direction. This original insert poster is folded and in very good condition. The folds, however, are very fragile, and we recommend paper or linen-backing to preserve this classic poster.

OCEAN SWELLS (1922) 2526

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Original lobby card for the 1922 comedy short OCEAN SWELLS, starring Neal Burns and Sylvia Ashton. The film was made by Christie Comedies and was distributed by Educational Pictures. Burns and Ashton are a couple of swells living on the ocean. The nautical motif is absolutely charming. This card is only in good condition with a missing corner. It has also been folded. Nevertheless it could be restored for a modest amount of money and it would be sensational in a vacation home or beach cabin! We recommend linen or paperbacking for this card. SCARLET STREET (1945) 2525

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Original Universal Pictures Lobby Card (11×14) for the Fritz Lang film-noir, SCARLET STREET (1945) starring Edward G. Robinson, Joan Bennett, and Dan Duryea. Lang’s storytelling, mood, and pacing are all very well crafted. The performances of Robinson, Bennett, and Duryea are all memorable as well. Robinson, in particular, shows remarkable versatility in portraying a mild-mannered bank cashier who wants only to dabble in his painting, but he comes to realize that he has gotten caught up in a very complicated web of lies and deceit. This original scene lobby card of Bennett and Robinson is in very fine condition.

THE LOCKET (1946) 7567

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Original RKO One Sheet Poster (27×41) for the John Brahm film noir, THE LOCKET (1946) starring Laraine Day, Brian Aherne, Robert Mitchum, and Gene Raymond. This is the story of Nancy (Day) who seems like an ideal bride for John (Raymond). But John meets a man who claims to be Nancy’s former husband and warns John that she is a kleptomaniac and habitual liar. This intricately constructed film is centered around the “locket” – signifying both repressed memories and the opening up of those hidden memories. By setting most of the film in flashback, Director Brahm places most of the action in an imaginatively reconstructed past, dream-like past. This original one sheet poster is folded and in very fine plus condition.
