Original MGM Three Sheet Poster (41×81) for the Mervyn LeRoy musical comedy, LATIN LOVERS (1953) starring Lana Turner, Ricardo Montalban, John Lund, and Louis Calhern. Turner plays a woman with everything—including $37 million she has just inherited. But she can’t tell if men pretend to love her just for her money. She meets and falls for Montalban on a trip to Brazil. Turner was gorgeous in the film, and costume designer Helen Rose had the inspiration to dress her in combinations of black and white. She was striking in contrast to her ultra-lush Technicolor trappings. This original three sheet poster is folded and in very good condition. The poster is in two sections –never really assembled but probably used at a theater. It has some fold separation and some small tears and pinholes. We recommend linen backing for this poster. Original American International Pictures Three Sheet Poster (41×81) for the William Asher musical comedy, HOW TO STUFF A WILD BIKINI (1965) starring Annette Funicello, Dwayne Hickman, Brian Donlevy, Harvey Lembeck, and Frankie Avalon. This was the last AIP “beach” musical to feature Funicello and Avalon. Alas, the surfing fad had crested and was now being replaced by a renewed interest in the motorcycle subculture. Funicello, who was pregnant at the time of the filming, looks too old to be hanging out at the beach. Avalon was also tired of playing an over-aged teenager and wanted to do something new in his career. So, AIP brought in Dwayne Hickman to be Annette’s new love interest, but the two just didn’t have the chemistry that Annette and Frankie had in the earlier films. After this film, Annette retired to raise a family, and Frankie attempted to play more serious roles. This original three sheet poster is folded and in very fine condition.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Original RKO Portrait Lobby Card (11×14) for the Allan Dwan film noir, SLIGHTLY SCARLET (1950) starring John Payne, Rhonda Fleming, Arlene Dahl, and Kent Taylor. The film was based on a novel by James M. Cain, who already had three of his books adapted for the screen in the 1940s: DOUBLE INDEMNITY (1944), MILDRED PIERCE (1945), and THE POSTMAN ALWAYS RINGS TWICE (1946). This story has a very convoluted plot about scheming and political intrigue in California. Payne reprises his small-time gangster role, and his twin temptations are Fleming (the mayor’s girl Friday) and Dahl (a man-devouring kleptomaniac). Legendary noir cinematographer John Alton works in color here and introduces surreal bursts of lime green, burnt orange, and deep orchid into his otherwise bleak and dark trapezoids. This original portrait lobby card is in near mint condition.
