Original 20th Century-Fox One Sheet Poster (27×41) for the George Seaton war drama, THE BIG LIFT (1950) starring Montgomery Clift, Paul Douglas, and Cornell Borchers. This film is a semi-documentary about the Berlin Airlift in 1948 intertwined with the stories of two Air Force NCOs involved in the operation. Truly a time capsule of postwar Berlin, the film was actually made on location in Berlin with the full cooperation of the US Air Force whose men actually played minor roles. This original one sheet poster with bright colors is folded and in fine plus condition, with only some minor paper distress along one fold line.

THE MAN FROM PLANET X (1951) 21100

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Original United Artists insert poster (14×36) for the Edgar G. Ulmer sci-fi classic, THE MAN FROM PLANET X (1951) starring Robert Clarke, Margaret Field, and Raymond Bond. Shot in six days on sets left over from JOAN OF ARC (1948), Clarke is a reporter in the foggy moor of a remote Scottish island sent to cover the story of the approach to earth of a previously unknown planet when he unexpectedly confronts a friendly alien from X. The alien’s plea for aid for his freezing planet is met with total obliteration by the British army bazookas. One of the first alien invasion films, it boasts an eerie atmosphere, moody cinematography, fun musical score, and an interesting story. While most of the one sheets – already rare – for this title show heavy use, this one is linen-backed and in very fine plus condition. With its endearing primitive art, the campaign for this film created some of the most charming science fiction movie posters of the 1950s. The insert was originally folded, but has been kept flat for thirty years or more. Fine Plus to Very Fine.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

This film revolves around a group of nurses returning from the war in the Philippines who recall their experiences in war and love. Although made during the war, this is not a war propaganda film by any means. It is one of the first films to put women in the spotlight as true war heroes. The script was written using the journals and diaries of actual nurses serving in the Pacific theater. This original scene lobby card is in very good plus condition.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Original Columbia Pictures Scene Lobby Card (11×14) for the Sam Newfield western musical comedy, THE TERROR OF TINY TOWN (1938) starring Billy Curtis, Yvonne Moray, “Little Billy” Rhodes, and Billy Platt. This unusual western has all the classic elements usually found in a western of the day—but with an all-dwarf cast. The plot revolves around a gunslinging midget who comes to terrorize the good “little people” of Tiny Town. The cast rides Shetland ponies, rope calves, and walk UNDER the swinging barroom doors. This original scene lobby card of four “little” cowboys getting tough in a poker game is in near mint condition.

This intelligent look at modern marriage has good performances, unique lighting, stunning set decoration, and beautiful costumes. This original scene card featuring Marshall and Crawford is in very fine plus condition.

THE GIRL WHO HAD EVERYTHING (1953) 13602

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Original MGM Style B Half Sheet Poster (22×28) for the Richard Thorpe romantic drama, THE GIRL WHO HAD EVERYTHING (1953) starring Elizabeth Taylor, Fernando Lamas, William Powell, and Gig Young. Taylor plays the daughter of a tough trial lawyer (Powell) who falls in love with his gangster client (Lamas). A remake of the film A FREE SOUL (1931) starring Norma Shearer and Clark Gable, this film does not have the seediness of the original but certainly has all the unbridled sensuality of the first movie. Taylor gives a thoroughly convincing portrayal of the willful, headstrong daughter who grows from a spoiled, immature flirt into a strong, sobered woman. Powell had been with MGM since 1934, and this was his final film for the studio. This original half sheet poster is folded and in very good condition. There are no fold separations, but the reverse side has some tape and some border distress. The poster would look very nice paperbacked, but can be framed as is.
