Original 20th Century Fox One Sheet Poster (27×41) for the Philip Kaufman biographical drama, QUILLS (2000) starring Geoffrey Rush, Kate Winslet, Joaquin Phoenix, and Michael Caine. The film deals with the incarceration of the infamous Marquis de Sade (Rush) at Charenton Asylum. The Marquis has always been involved in determining the role that sexuality plays in defining who we are physically, emotionally, and spiritually. It is discovered that the Marquis is smuggling out manuscripts on these subjects to publishers on the outside. The Emperor Napoleon is not happy about his turn of events and sends his “specialist” in mental health (Caine), a man more in tune with the Spanish inquisition than modern medicine, to treat the wayward aristocrat. The film was nominated for three Academy Awards—including Best Actor for Rush, Best Art Direction, and Best Costume Design. This original one sheet poster is rolled and in very fine plus condition.

Original 2002 Rialto Pictures Re-Release One Sheet Poster (27×41) for the Henri-Georges Clouzot crime drama, QUAI DES ORFEVRES (1947) starring Louis Jouvet, Simone Renant, Bernard Blier, and Suzy Delair. This French film takes place in post-war Paris where singer Jenny (Delair) wants to succeed in her music career, but she makes her jealous husband and accompanist (Blier) angry by flirting with an old businessman who can help her get more singing engagements. When the businessman winds up murdered, the husband becomes the chief suspect. The film is well-written and well-acted with lots of twists and turns in the plot. This original re-release one sheet poster is rolled and in very fine to near mint condition.

Original Zoetrope Studios 1981 Restored Re-Release One Sheet Poster (25×39) for the Abel Gance silent biography, NAPOLEON (1927) starring Albert Dieudonne, Vladimir Roundenko, and Edmond Van Daele. The film is a massive six-hour biopic of Napoleon, tracing his career from his schooldays, his flight from Corsica, through the French Revolution and the Terror, culminating in his triumphant invasion of Italy in 1797. The film stops here because it was intended to be part one of six, but Gance was never able to raise the money to finish the project. Film historian Kevin Brownlow supervised the restoration of the film in the years leading up to 1980, and his reconstruction was re-edited and released by Zoetrope Studios with a score by Carmine Coppola performed live at the screenings. This poster is for the opening of this restoration presented by Francis Ford Coppola at Radio City Music Hall in New York on January 23-25, 1981. This original re-release one sheet poster is rolled and in very fine condition.

Original Focus Features One Sheet Poster (27×40) for the Sofia Coppola drama, LOST IN TRANSLATION (2003) starring Scarlett Johansson, Bill Murray, and Akiko Takeshita. The story involves an American actor (Murray) who goes to Tokyo to make commercials and meets and becomes close friends with Charlotte (Johansson), the young wife of a visiting photographer. Though the film has great comedic flair, it is also a masterpiece of bittersweet emotion. Filmed in 27 days on a budget of $4 million, it grossed 44.5 million in North America alone and $119.7 million worldwide. The film was nominated for four Academy Awards—including Best Picture, Best Director for Coppola, and Best Actor for Murray. Sofia Coppola won the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay. This original one sheet poster is rolled and in near mint condition.

Original Columbia Pictures Roadshow Program Booklet for the David Lean war epic, LAWRENCE OF ARABIA starring Peter O’ Toole, Alec Guiness, and Omar Sharif. The unforgettable biography of the flamboyant and controversial British military officer and his conflicted loyalties is one of the best movies ever made. With a brilliant script by Robert Bolt, a stunning score by Maurice Jarre, and unbelievably beautiful Super Panavision cinematography by Freddie Young, this film is considered to be ultimate historical biography. The sweeping desert vistas totally immerse the viewer, and the battle scenes are gripping. Here we have true epic filmmaking – without the assist of today’s cgi “magic.” LAWRENCE OF ARABIA was nominated for 10 Academy Awards and won seven—including Best Picture, Best Director for Lean, Best Music for Jarre, and Best Color Cinematography for Young. This original program booklet was made available to theater patrons attending the roadshow performances of LAWRENCE OF ARABIA in 1962. This program booklet is generally regarded to be one of the best of these programs which were usually prepared for hard ticket roadshow films. Condition is very fine.

Six original 8×10 black and white for the indy classic SLACKER directed by Richard Linklater and starring Richard Linklater, Jean Caffeine and a host of Austin Texas “slackers” from two decades ago. One still features Austin Chronicle editor Louis Black. Made on a shoestring, the film is now firmly ensconced in the Independent Feature Firmament and is available on the prestigious Criterion Collection DVD. Linklater made a film that captured that moment just before Austin was to become an International Crossroads for the tech, music and media crowd. Many local folk appeared in the film. Linklater paints a charming and idiosyncratic picture of The Austin That Was. The film was picked up by Orion Classics, essentially launching Linklater’s career as one of the most fondly regarded indy directors. These stills are in excellent condition. Reasonably scarce.

A ballet student comes to Europe to study and soon discovers that the ballet Academy is really a witch-infested coven. Unusual Dario Argento orchestrated events ensue. Weird and wacky, a cult favorite among Euro-Horror fans. The poster is in very fine condition.
