Original French One Panel Poster (47×63) for Jean Cocteau’s visual masterpiece, LA BELLE ET LA BETE (1946) starring Jean Marais and Josette Day. This wonderfully surrealistic film, full of magic and enchantment, marvels the senses with novel cinematography by Henri Alekan , fascinating sets that were patterned after illustrations by the famous French artist Gustave Dore, and a lovely score by Georges Auric. The film was made despite limited funds, accidents, and even Cocteau’s severe illness, which required his hospitalization. LA BELLE ET LA BETE is not only one of the most fabulous and famous French film posters, it is one of the best film posters ever made worldwide. Our example is indeed a very fine example with the most minor of issues. This is a poster that may be displayed in any setting spectacularly.

Original United Artists Three Sheet Poster (41×81) for the Brian Desmond Hurst production of the Charles Dickens classic, A CHRISTMAS CAROL (1951) starring the amazing Alastair Sim as Ebenezer Scrooge. This excellent British production (the original UK title was SCROOGE) is considered by most critics to be the definitive film of this enduring story. Sim, who was primarily a comic actor, portrays a malevolent as well as a humorous Scrooge. The scary “ghost story” atmosphere of the film is greatly enhanced by the cinematography of C.M. Pennington-Richards and the powerful score by Richard Addinsell. This is one of Dickens’ most powerful depictions of the plight of the poor and unfortunate in Victorian London set against the backdrop of Christmas. This wonderful tale of the transformation of a lonely and greedy man into a good and generous humanitarian is as one critic described “a feast for the heart.” This original three sheet poster is in fine plus condition, with some minor fold separations.

Original Paramount Pictures One Sheet Poster (27×41) for the Michael Curtiz all-time Christmas favorite, WHITE CHRISTMAS (1954) starring Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney, and Vera-Ellen. All of the performances were wonderful, and Irving Berlin’s score was about half new songs and half from previous scores. Crosby is charming, witty, and utterly delightful. Danny Kaye is hilarious, and Clooney is riveting as the older of the two Haynes sisters. Vera-Ellen as the younger sister is also wonderful and performs some unbelievably good dancing. Of course, Crosby sang “White Christmas” in an earlier Paramount musical, HOLIDAY INN (1942) also scored by Irving Berlin. Indeed, Berlin won the Academy Award for Best Original Song that year and was nominated for Best Original Song for “Count Your Blessings Instead of Sheep” in WHITE CHRISTMAS. This was also the first film done in Paramount’s new wide screen process called VistaVision. This original one sheet poster is linen-backed, fully restored, and in very fine condition.

Original Fox Searchlight Pictures One Sheet Poster (27×41) for the Edward Burns romantic comedy, THE BROTHERS MCMULLEN (1995) starring Burns, Jack Mulcahy, and Mike McGlone. Edward Burns wrote, directed, and starred in this tale of three Irish-Catholic brothers who explore their relationships with women. Their common bond as family, as well as being life-long best friends, allows them to express their true feelings frankly and intimately. Filmed on a budget of $20,000, it won the Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival in 1995. This original one sheet poster is rolled and in near mint condition.

Original United Artists One Sheet Poster (27×41) for the Paul Verhoeven Las Vegas drama, SHOWIRLS (1995) starring Elizabeth Berkley, Kyle MacLachlan, Gina Gershon, and Glenn Plummer. The film chronicles a young drifter named Nomi (Berkley) who moves to Las Vegas to become a dance star and sets about clawing her way to the top. Of course, the film was roundly criticized as exploitative of and demeaning to women. Every female character in the film advances her career by both deceiving other women and becoming a sexual object for men. And while some see the film as a camp classic and sly satire, it was nominated in 2005 for the Razzie award Worst Drama of Our First 25 Years. This original one sheet poster is rolled and in near mint condition.

Original 20th Century-Fox Insert Poster (14×36) for the Samuel Fuller cold war action adventure, HELL AND HIGH WATER (1954) starring Richard Widmark, Bella Darvi, Victor Francen, and Cameron Mitchell. A privately financed scientist and his colleagues hire an ex-Navy officer (Widmark) to conduct an Alaskan submarine expedition in order to prevent a Red Chinese plot against the United States.
