MAGNIFICENT OBSESSION (1954) 16591

Original Universal International One Sheet Poster (27×41). Linen-backed. Very fine.

Additional DescriptionMore Details
This is an original Universal International One Sheet Poster (27x41) for the Douglas Sirk classic melodrama, MAGNIFIENT OBSESSION (1954) based on the novel by Lloyd C. Douglas —starring Jane Wyman and Rock Hudson. This film was a remake of the 1935 version, which stars Irene Dunne and Robert Taylor. Just as the earlier film made Robert Taylor’s career, this film was a breakthrough film for Rock Hudson. Indeed, he would do eight more successful movies with Sirk. In this film, Hudson plays a shallow, womanizing, heavy drinking, spoiled playboy. Causing an accident in which Wyman goes blind, he tries to redeem himself by giving selflessly to others and devoting his life to medicine to find a way to restore her eyesight. With excellent performances by Hudson and Wyman (who was nominated for Best Actress), superb production values, and an emotional classical score by Frank Skinner, this drama became an audience favorite. This original one sheet poster is linen-backed and in very fine condition.

LIFE BEGINS FOR ANDY HARDY (1941)

Original MGM Insert Poster (14×36).  Linen-backed.  Very good condition.

Additional DescriptionMore Details
Original MGM Insert Poster (14x36) for the Goerge B. Seitz romantic comedy, LIFE BEGINS FOR ANDY HARDY (1941). Wonderful photography of America's favorite teenagers of the late 1930s and early 1940s, Judy Garland and Mickey Rooney. Garland appeared three times as the character Betsy Booth in the Hardy series. This was her final appearance in these films, and the movie is not the usual Hardy fare. The teens must face incipient adulthood in a world soon to be at war. Mickey moves to New York City, and soon finds that the Big Apple is a place with girls - and even more serious problems, just like anywhere else. LIFE BEGINS FOR ANDY HARDY has the most intelligent script of the series. Even though Mickey Rooney would go on to make several more of these, MGM would never again try to solemnize the ritual in quite this way. This poster is on an old linen and its overall condition is very good, and while it would frame nicely, it could be rebacked. Rare in this format, we think it is the best poster for the film.

LEGEND (1985) 10497

Original Universal Pictures One Sheet Poster (27×41). Originally folded. Very good condition.

Additional DescriptionMore Details
This is an original Universal Pictures One Sheet Poster (27x41) for the Ridley Scott fantasy adventure, LEGEND (1985)—starring Tom Cruise, Mia Sara, and Tim Curry. Following BLADE RUNNER (1982), this definitive fairy tale was Ridley Scott’s fourth film. The poster is difficult to find. The three main cast members give exceptional performances. Cruise is quite effective and believable, and Mia Sara is convincingly naïve and pure. But Tim Curry steals the show as Lord of Darkness. The cinematography, editing, and special effects are exceptional; indeed, each scene is artfully conceived. Originally folded, this original one sheet poster is in very good condition. Now hard to get.
