WINTER CARNIVAL (1939) 1908

Original United Artists One Sheet Poster (27×41).  Fine plus condition.

Additional DescriptionMore Details
Original United Artists One Sheet Poster (27x41) for the Charles Reisner drama, WINTER CARNIVAL (1939)—starring Ann Sheridan, Richard Carlson, Helen Parrish, and James Corner. Set during Dartmouth College’s Winter Carnival, the film stars the beautiful Ann Sheridan. Because the film was produced by one of Hollywood's first independent producers, Walter Wanger, it lacks the contingent of oft-seen character actors who would have been cast had the film been produced by one of the major studios. Yet the film has enjoyed a following over the years from Sheridan fans. This original one sheet poster is folded and in fine plus condition, with only minor edge wear and fold separations. There have been several re-releases of this film, but original 1939 one sheets are scarce. One of the prettiest Ann Sheridan posters.

Additional DescriptionMore Details

Original Twentieth Century Fox One Sheet (27×41). Linen backed. Fine.

Additional DescriptionMore Details

Henie, an international ice skating champion, (she won the Gold Medal at the 1928 Olympics) came to Hollywood to make films for Darryl Zanuck. Her first film for Fox ONE IN A MILLION proved successful and soon Henie and Tyrone Power, with whom she had a much publicized affair, were seen on screen and off. Her career continued through the 1950s. She became a naturalized U.S. citizen, but spent her final years in Norway accumulating a major modern art collection. This poster is mounted on an older linen, but displays well. Condition is fine +.

Original Twentieth Century Fox One Sheet (27 x 41).  Very fine condition.

Additional DescriptionMore Details
This is one of the prettier baseball-related U.S. film posters. It doesn't hurt that the film is an entertaining biopic of the great player and sports broadcaster Dizzy Dean. The screenplay, adapted from a story by Guy Trosper, was written by Herman J. Mankiewicz, more well known for writing the screenplay for Orson Welles' CITIZEN KANE. One of the best baseball films ever. Dan Dailey is shown as pitcher on the poster in his St. Louis Cardinals uniform and also as the sportscaster who became a legend in the world of TV. This is a film which is fun for the whole family. Such a sunny poster would look great anywhere.
