Original Universal Pictures One Sheet Poster (27×41). Very fine.
This is an original Universal Pictures One Sheet Poster (27x41) for the Alfred Hitchcock Cold War thriller, TORN CURTAIN (1966)—starring Paul Newman and Julie Andrews. Newman plays an America nuclear scientist who pretends to defect to East Germany in order to trick a communist scientist into revealing a missile formula. Andrews plays Newman’s bewildered and abandoned fiancée. This film is superbly acted, beautifully filmed with great music, dialogue, and plot. The taut escape adventure from East Germany is quite memorable. This original one sheet poster is in very fine condition.
TO TRAP A SPY (1964) & THE SPY WITH MY FACE (1965) 19153
Original MGM 1966 Re-release Window Card (14×22). Very fine.
This is an original MGM 1966 Re-release Window Card (14x22) for the double feature of the David Medford spy thriller, TO TRAP A SPY (1964)—(starring Robert Vaughn, Luciana Puluzzi, and David McCallum) and the John Newland spy thriller, THE SPY WITH MY FACE (1965)—(starring Vaughn, McCallum, and Senta Berger). The Medford feature is the pilot of the TV series “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.” re-edited and released to theaters as a feature film. The Newland film is made from two episodes of the first season of “The Man From U.N.C.L.E.” in which Thrush captures Napoleon Solo (Vaughn) and replaces him with a look-alike to infiltrate the spy agency. This original double feature window card is in very fine condition.
THUNDERBALL (1965) 19495
Original United Artists 24 sheet (9×20 feet). Very fine to near mint condition.
Perhaps the most outrageous James Bond poster around as well as the largest. THUNDERBALL (1965) was the first really widescreen Bond movie, and the film demonstrably took the effects and sweep of the films to center stage. From this point forward James Bond movies would be above all LARGE. I regard it as the first of the Big Bond movies. Since so much of it happens underwater, how better to display the big guy other than in his S.C.U.B.A gear? Move over, Esther Williams, the name is Bond - James Bond. Here is a poster on the such a scale that even Emilio Largo would be envious. The twenty four sheet is printed on multiple panels which must be joined for display. This example was never used and exists in remarkable shape.
THE FALLEN SPARROW (1943) 2504
Original RKO Scene Lobby Card (11×14). Fine plus condition with only minor pinholes and edge wear.
Original RKO Scene Lobby Card (11x14) for the Richard Wallace film-noir thriller, THE FALLEN SPARROW (1943)—starring John Garfield, Maureen O Hara, Walter Slezak, and Patricia Morison. This wonderful thriller tells the story of John McKittick (Garfield), a former Spanish Civil War prisoner, who arrives in New York to find out the truth behind the death of his friend. When he discovers that Nazi agents are chasing him, he realizes that he can’t trust anyone. Hollywood “fought” World War II on many fronts, including thrillers dedicated to smoking out the Fifth Column at home like this film. Based on a popular novel by Dorothy B. Hughes, the title comes from the line “…in a world at war many sparrows must fall….” This original scene lobby card is in fine plus condition with only some minor pinholes and edge wear.
SPY SMASHER (1942) 15430
Original Republic Pictures One Sheet Poster (27×41). Linen-backed. Very Fine.
This is an original Republic Pictures One Sheet Poster (27x41) for the William Witney 12-episode serial, SPY SMASHER (1942)—starring Kane Richmond, Marguerite Chapman, and Hans Schumm. While many film critics consider the “serial” to be the bastard cousin of the feature film, this serial has received many accolades, including “the finest serial ever made” and “the Citizen Kane of serials.” Adapted from a popular comic book, this serial has some of the best-choreographed action scenes and astonishing stunts. Alan Armstrong (aka Spy Smasher) battles a Nazi villain known as “The Mask,” who heads a gang of saboteurs determined to spread destruction across America. This film was made during the dark, early days of World War II and intentionally summons up the righteous courage of early war propaganda films. This original one sheet poster is linen-backed and in very fine condition. There is some repair in the lower left background image and repair of a tear in the lower left corner.
ON HER MAJESTYS SECRET SERVICE (1969) 1950
Original United Artists Style B One Sheet Poster (27×41). Folded. Very fine condition with some soiling on reverse side.
This is an original United Artists Style B One Sheet Poster (27x41) for the Peter Hunt classic spy thriller, ON HER MAJESTY’S SECRET SERVICE (1969)—starring George Lazenby, Diana Rigg, and Telly Savalas. This was the sixth film based on the famous Ian Fleming spymaster James Bond, and the film starred George Lazenby in the title role. He was quite good in the role; indeed, he was nominated for a Golden Globe as “Most Promising Male Newcomer.” Considered by many critics to be one of the best Bond movies; the film was certainly closest to the Ian Fleming source material. Director Hunt ditched all the silly gadgets but still crafted an elaborate action thriller. The film boasts a brilliant screenplay, excellent use of fantastic locations, lush cinematography, and a sweeping majestic score by John Barry. This original style B one sheet poster was originally folded and is in very fine condition, with only some soiling on the reverse side. Authentic. MovieArt will sell NO reproductions.

This film was based on the final James Bond short story written by Ian Fleming. The film was released in the same year as the rival Bond production NEVER SAY NEVER AGAIN (1983), which showcased the return of Sean Connery to the iconic role. Many critics consider this film to be Roger Moore’s best Bond role, with Louis Jourdan playing the very sophisticated and charming villain Kamal Khan. John Barry composed a memorable score, and the directing of John Glen is very entertaining, enjoyable, and a whole lot of fun. This original one sheet poster is folded and in near mint condition.

Hattie McDaniel: Black Ambition, White Hollywood
Hattie McDaniel is best known for her performance as Mammy, the sassy foil to Scarlett O’Hara in Gone with the Wind.
