Original Universal Pictures Insert poster (14x36) for the Stanley Donen mystery thriller, CHARADE (1963)—starring Cary Grant, Audrey Hepburn, Walter Matthau, and James Coburn. They story revolves around a woman (Hepburn), who is pursued by several men who want a fortune her murdered husband had stolen. Blessed with an airy but literate script, elegant and classy performances by Grant and Hepburn, and direction with a continental style and flare by Donen—the end result is one of the best light mysteries ever made. Henry Mancini and Johnny Mercer won the Academy Award for Best Original Song ("Charade"). CHARADE was certainly the last great film for Cary Grant, whose chemistry with Hepburn is unbeatable. It did not hurt that this film had a appropriately charming score by Henry Mancini. The insert poster was never folded, and is the best example of the poster in this format that we have seen.
