SUDDENLY, LAST SUMMER (1959) 2187
Original Columbia Pictures One Sheet Poster (27×41). Good.
This is an original Columbia Pictures One Sheet Poster (27x41) for the Joseph L. Mankiewicz dramatic classic, SUDDENLY, LAST SUMMER (1959)—starring Elizabeth Taylor, Katharine Hepburn, and Montgomery Clift. Based on a play by the very successful Broadway icon Tennessee Williams, the screenplay was skillfully adapted by Gore Vidal. Set in New Orleans in 1937, Hepburn plays a lady of means who is mourning the loss of her son. She wants to donate a million dollars to the hospital where Clift is a doctor if he will perform a lobotomy on her niece Taylor. The young woman has been traumatized by what she witnessed last summer. Tennessee Williams never forgave his own mother for letting his sister Rose have a lobotomy to “cure” her anxiety problems. The whole story turns on the character of the son Sebastian, who is never seen in the film. Supposedly, dead of a heart attack, the audience finally discovers that he was murdered by a group of youths because of his homosexuality. Both Taylor and Hepburn were nominated for Oscars. It was the eighth nomination for Hepburn and the third nomination for Taylor. This original one sheet poster is in good condition with some tears in the border areas. SUDDENLY (1954) 19759
Original United Artists Six Sheet Poster (81×81). Very fine condition.
This is an original United Artists Six Sheet Poster (81x81) for the Lewis Allen crime thriller, SUDDENLY (1954)—starring Frank Sinatra, Sterling Hayden, James Gleason, and Nancy Gates. In the drowsy little California town of Suddenly, three gangsters trap a family in their own house because it is the best place from which to try and carry out an assassination plot on the President. Sinatra gives an outstanding and multi-dimensional performance as the ruthless criminal mastermind of this plot. Supposedly, Lee Harvey Oswald watched SUDDENLY just days before he assassinated President Kennedy. History imitating art? This original six sheet poster is in very fine condition.
STRAW DOGS (1972) U.S. thee sheet
Original ABC Pictures Three Sheet Poster (41×81). Folded. Very fine plus condition.
Original ABC Pictures Three Sheet Poster (41x81) for the Sam Peckinpah ultra violent thriller, STRAW DOGS (1971)—starring Dustin Hoffman, Susan George, Peter Vaughan, and T. P. McKenna. After moving to Britain to get away from violence in America, Astrophysicist David (Hoffman) and his wife Amy (George) are bullied and taken advantage of by local construction workers. The enigmatic title comes from Chinese philospher Lao-tzu who wrote, “Heaven and earth are not humane, and regard the people as straw dogs.” This highly charged, extremely intense, and brutally violent film redefined cinema violence forever. This original three sheet poster is folded and in very fine plus condition.
STRANGERS ON A TRAIN (1951) 13777
Original Warner Bros. Three Sheet Poster (41×81). Linen backed. Fine plus condition.
Original Warner Bros. Three Sheet Poster (41x81) for the Alfred Hitchcock mystery thriller, STRANGERS ON A TRAIN (1951)—starring Farley Granger, Ruth Roman, and Robert Walker. You do my murder and I'll do yours. This is the nasty bargain that Farley Granger and Robert Walker make in one of our favorite Hitchcock films. There's a subliminal homosexual subtext from the fawning Walker and a snotty above-it-all knowingness from Granger that make this one of the most delicious and scary of Hitchcock's 1950s masterpieces. The story came from the novel by Patricia Highsmith, author of the equally lurid THE TALENTED MR. RIPLEY. We think that the three sheet is one of the best posters on the film. This poster is linen backed with some minor restoration at the fold lines and other touch-up. Fine plus condition.

Making wonderful use of black comedy, this film boasts excellent performances from Wyman shifting effortlessly from aspiring actress to love struck protectress. Dietrich is hilariously catty as the flamboyant theater star and Todd is wickedly suspicious as the suspected murderer. This original one sheet poster is folded and in good condition with some major fold separations. This poster would present beautifully if linen-backed. Ask us about linen-backing.

Original Paramount Pictures One Sheet Poster (27×41). Linen-backed. Fine.
This is an original Paramount Pictures One Sheet Poster (27x41) for the Anatole Litvak film noir thriller, SORRY, WRONG NUMBER (1948)—starring Barbara Stanwyck and Burt Lancaster. The overall feeling of gloom reaches its climax when our neurotic heroine realizes that the intended murder victim is herself. The story was originally a radio drama starring Agnes Moorehead, but the expanded film version was able to build the suspense and tension of the original into a more terrifying conclusion. Barbara Stanwyck gives a wonderful performance and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress. This original one sheet poster is linen-backed and in fine condition.
