This is an original Warner Brothers Lobby Card Set of eight cards for Elia Kazan's dramatic masterpiece, EAST OF EDEN (1955) starring Julie Harris, James Dean, Raymond Massey, Richard Davalos, and Jo Van Fleet. This was James Dean's screen debut as the neurotic and troubled twin son of the Bible-reading lettuce farmer Massey. His performance was so riveting that he was nominated for Best Actor, the first posthumous acting nomination in Academy Award history. Dean had been killed in an automobile accident in September 1955 at the age of twenty-four. Other Academy nominations included Best Director for Kazan, Best Screenplay for Paul Osborn's adaptation of the popular John Steinbeck novel. Jo Van Fleet was nominated and won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress as the mother of the twin brothers, who becomes a successful madam in Monterey, California. This original and complete lobby card set of eight is in very fine condition.
