Warner Brothers Insert Poster (14x36) for the Howard Hawks film noir masterpiece, THE BIG SLEEP (1946), starring Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall. One of the best Raymond Chandler novels ever brought to the big screen, it is a story of private-eye Philip Marlowe (Bogart) who is hired to keep track of General Sternwood's youngest daughter, but in the process he falls in love with her older sister Vivian (Bacall). The delightful and witty banter between Bogart and Bacall is one of the high points of this film. Though first performing opposite each other in TO HAVE AND HAVE NOT (1944), this film cemented the Bogart/Bacall on-screen and off-screen love affair. This original insert poster is in very fine minus condition-- with only some fold wear, small edge tears, minor staining in the lower left corner, and some creasing at the top left.
