Director Melford was one of the best visual stylists of the silent era beginning his directorial career in 1911 and ending in 1946. Besides directing, Melford was also a character actor throughout his career, continuing until 1960. In this film, Hoot Gibson plays a confidence man posing as a lawyer selling phony law books. Complications arises when he has to defend a young man falsely accused of robbery. This original stone lithograph six sheet poster is linen-backed and in very fine condition.

In this film successful horse rancher Clint Hale (Gibson) is in love with Mildred Field (Kennedy), but she also admires the crook Dave Dumont (D’Arcy) who runs the saloon and gambling hall. Ultimately, Clint forces Dave to reveal his criminal side, leading to the inevitable ride into the sunset with sweet Mildred. Gibson was a pioneer star of silent and early talking westerns and was one of the 1920′s most popular children’s matinee heroes. Originally folded, this beautiful stone lithograph one sheet poster is in very fine condition with only minor edge distresses and fold separations.
