We think of Charlton Heston as the Moses Of The Movies, but his peer Burt Lancaster played Moses as well in the CBS Television mini series, MOSES THE LAWGIVER, done in 1974. This was a prestigious effort on the part of CBS. Joseph E. Levine released a two hour theatrical version as MOSES in 1976. Blessed with a competent cast, the movie is no THE TEN COMMANDMENTS, but the story relies on character development and biblical detail to move it along. The mini series version, which one might be able to catch on a cable movie channel, is the better version to watch as the theatrical release is a bit truncated. Original AVCO Embassy One Sheet Poster (27×41) for the William Girdler horror film, THE MANITOU (1978) starring Tony Curtis, Michael Ansara, Susan Strasberg, Jon Cedar, and Stella Stevens. The film tells the story of Karen (Strasberg), who enters a San Francisco hospital suffering from a growing tumor on her back. When the tumor gets larger, her doctor begins to think it is a 400-year-old Native American spirit who wants revenge. Although the film is hopelessly preposterous and campy, it is still very much fun to watch. This original one sheet poster is folded and in very fine plus conition.

Original Embassy Pictures Roadshow One Sheet Poster (27×41) for the Anthony Harvey historical drama, THE LION IN WINTER (1968) starring Peter O’Toole, Katharine Hepburn, Anthony Hopkins, John Castle, and Nigel Terry. Adapted by James Goldman from his witty and sublimely literate 1966 Broadway play, this film is one of the crowning achievements in cinematic story telling. The tale revolves around the aging King Henry II (O’Toole) who must decide the successor to his throne from among his three sons (Hopkins, Castle, and Terry), while bringing his estranged and dysfunctional clan together for the Christmas holidays. The film was nominated for seven Academy Awards and won three Oscars: Best Actress to Hepburn for her memorable portrayal of Queen Eleanor of Aquitaine, Best Screenplay to Goldman, and Best Original Score to John Barry. This original roadshow one sheet poster is folded and in very fine condition.

Original AVCO Embassy Pictures Insert Poster for the Joe Dante seminal horror classic and a perennial favorite of werewolf-movie fans, THE HOWLING (1981)—starring Dee Wallace, Patrick Macnee, Dennis Dugan, and Christopher Stone. Wallace plays a TV news anchorwoman who, after being traumatized while covering a story about a serial killer, seeks comfort at a new-age spa run by a doctor played by Macnee. All the patrons of this exclusive spa turn out to be werewolves, however. No spoilers here, as this is certainly a must see for horror fans, but the film also offers some good laughs and fine special effects from the era before computers did it all. This insert poster is in very fine plus condition – never folded, colors vivid. A great design from the era. One sheet posters are around, but finding an insert poster for this title is not as easy. A great example.

Original AVCO Embassy Pictures One Sheet Poster (27×41) for the Paul Lynch horror thriller, PROM NIGHT (1980)– starring Leslie Nielsen, Jamie Lee Curtis, Casey Stevens, and Anne-Marie Martin. A masked killer stalks four teens responsible for the accidental death of a child six years ago at their high school prom. Besides stunningly vivid camera movements and a wonderfully twisted musical score, the film boasts some excellent performances from Curtis (in her third “scream queen” role) and Martin as the delightfully terrified sexpot Wendy. This original one sheet poster is in very good condition.

Morse Japanese monster classic, GODZILLA, KING OF THE MONSTERS (1956)—starring Raymond Burr, Takashi Shimura, and Akira Takarada. This is an Americanized re-edited version of Honda’s original Japanese film, GOJIRA (1954), which was the first of the “Japanese monster” films that also included such beasts as Gammera, Rodan, and Mothra. American reporter Steve Martin (Burr) investigates a series of mysterious disasters off the coast of Japan and discovers Godzilla– a 400 ft. dinosaur-like beast who has awakened from his hibernation by the testing of atomic bombs. The original Japanese version has many more cautions about the dangers of nuclear testing and nuclear war. At night Godzilla goes on rampages in Tokyo, leaving death and destruction everywhere. Only the ultimate weapon, which can destroy all life in Tokyo Bay, can save the city. This original one sheet poster is linen-baked and in very good condition.
