Authentic film poster from Canada, 26×42, for the Charles Lamont horse racing drama, LONG SHOT (1939) starring Gordon Jones, Marsha Hunt, C. Henry Gordon, and Harry Davenport. This is the story about stable owner Gordon trying to ruin another owner Davenport and marry Davenport’s niece, Hunt, in the aftermath. Davenport anticipates the plot, fakes his own death, and wills his only horse to Hunt and Jones. After a series of losses, the horse finally wins the Santa Anita handicap. Davenport comes back, Gordon and his henchmen are foiled, and Hunt and Jones fall in love. This poster was obtained in a large acquisition of American posters that came from Canada. We suspect that this poster was printed for the Canadian market as the size does not conform exactly to the U.S. standard. Perhaps reissue from the late 1940s or early 1950s. Oddball piece, priced accordingly. Fine condition. We believe that the blank area at the top was for theater and playdate information.

Original One Sheet Poster (27×41) for the Samuel Diege western musical, RIDE ‘EM COWGIRL starring Dorothy Page, Vince Barnett, and Milton Frome. After Dorothy Page had become a popular singer with The Paul Whiteman Band, she was signed by Grand National Pictures to do a series of “singing cowgirl” westerns to help the studio recover from financial disaster after producing a box office bomb, SOMETHING TO SING ABOUT (1937) starring James Cagney. The studio claimed that she did all her own stunts—form roping to riding to shooting. But alas, these films were not that popular, and Grand National dropped the “singing cowgirl” idea and Page after the third film and went out of business shortly thereafter. Page at this point retired from acting to devote her time to her family. This original one sheet poster is linen-backed and in fine plus condition with vivid colors and minimal touch-up.

Original Grand National Pictures One Sheet Poster (27×41) for the Arthur Rosson western, BOOTS OF DESTINY (1937) starring Ken Maynard, Claudia Dell, and Vince Barnett. Maynard stars as cowboy Ken Crawford, who gets involved in a feud involving hidden treasure between the Mexican Vascos and the Yankee Wilsons. This stunning one sheet features a great portrait of the grimacing Maynard against a stark black backdrop. The poster had restoration to correct light edge wear, some tearing in the bottom border, cross-fold separations, and a chip out of the bottom right corner. This original one sheet poster is linen-backed and in fine plus condition. A great Ken Maynard image.
